We recently completed a beautiful cottage sash window renovation in Sneyd Park, bringing together timeless period style with modern energy efficiency. This Victorian cottage, full of charm and character, has now been fitted with bespoke Accoya double glazed sash windows that match the original designs while offering enhanced thermal performance.
Installing 16 Pairs of Custom Cottage Sash Windows
The project was completed in two phases to suit the homeowner’s timeline, with 16 pairs of sash windows expertly crafted and installed. Every window was custom-made using Accoya timber, a sustainable and long-lasting material ideal for heritage properties. Additionally, each cottage sash window includes argon-filled double glazed units with a U-value of 1.6 — a major upgrade in insulation while maintaining the original aesthetic.

Traditional Details with a Personal Touch
Preserving the character of the home was essential. We replicated the original Victorian glazing bars and chose window furniture that complements the décor in each room:
- In the kitchen, we fitted satin chrome window hardware to match taps, handles, spotlights, and sockets.
- As for the sitting room and snug, satin chrome fittings were selected to match existing light fixtures and door handles.
- Upstairs, antique brass fittings were used to reflect the traditional feel of the upper rooms.
In summary, these thoughtful details ensure each cottage sash window looks like it has always belonged.

Restoring and Retaining the Original Features
All windows were draught-proofed and fitted into the original sash boxes, which were fully renovated, repaired, and decorated. Furthermore, we installed new bespoke Accoya sills, providing durability and a crisp finish. Best of all, the external brickwork was preserved, and the recently decorated interiors remained untouched throughout the installation.
