Frequently Asked questions

Do you carry out repairs and renovations?

We no longer carry out the servicing, repairing, draught proofing and decorating of old sash windows. We exclusively specialise in installing bespoke new Accoya double-glazed sashes. This is because we only like providing the best service that we possibly can and we believe that new double-glazed sash windows are the future.

Do you replace the whole sash boxes?

99% of time, the sash boxes do not need replacing. This means less disruption to the plaster and internal decoration, wall paper etc of your rooms and the external stonework. This more considered approach also means that your original period features such as Victorian architrave and wooden panelling etc are fully renovated and restored rather than being ripped out and destroyed. We strip the sash boxes right back to bare wood. This enables us to make a full assessment of any rot issues. Any rot is cut out and new Accoya timber repairs are spliced in. Full new Accoya sills are also fitted where required.

Do we need planning permission?

If you live in a conservation area (most of Bristol) no planning permission is needed as just replacing the sashes is classed as a repair. Most of our work is done in Conservation areas.

How long does the work take?

Our team will carry out the preparation, repairs, fitting of new double-glazed sashes and final painting of upto 12 windows in 5 days.

Where are the windows made?

Our windows are made locally in Iron Acton just 7 miles from Bristol.
